Welcoming culture in Germany in times of need, devastation and chaos

“You starvelings, get you gone out of Germany!”

(Translation of the original version in Bavarian dialect: „Es Hungerleider, geht’s naus aus Deitschland!“)

These were the hearty words Elsa (* 1928 in Silesia) and her family were welcomed with in Bavaria (Germany) after her perilous flight out of Gurschdorf (Silesia), nowadays known as Skorošice (Czech Republic).
